Confirmation
What is confirmation?
In the ELCA, confirmation is understood as an affirmation of Baptism, helping young people grow in faith and identify with the Christian community through Word and Sacrament. It is a grace-centered ministry, rooted in God’s love, and shaped by the whole congregation, emphasizing lifelong learning, discipleship, and inclusion. Confirmation is not a completion of Baptism, but a pastoral and educational process that supports youth as they mature in faith and participate in the church’s mission.
Confirmation information
Here at Trinity, Confirmation is held for all 7th, 8th and 9th grade students most Wednesday nights after worship, from 7:15-8:15pm in the Christian Life Center. Confirmation is led by Pastor Matt Peterson, with the help of our small group of confirmation mentors.
Confirmation students and families are asked to participate in a few important service opportunities throughout the school year as part of their faith journey and involvement in the life of the church.
Confirmation Signups
All confirmation-related signups can be found on the Trinity website under the “Signup” tab.
7th Grade Students
Each 7th grade confirmation student is asked to serve as an acolyte in the Sanctuary 3 times during the school year. Acolytes assist with worship leadership during services and help support the worship experience for the congregation.
8th Grade Students
Each 8th grade confirmation student is asked to serve as a host in the CLC 4 times during the school year. Hosting includes welcoming attendees, helping create a friendly environment, and assisting with basic service needs.
7th–9th Grade Families
We ask each confirmation family to help serve at the Wednesday night family meal once during the school year. This is a great way to support our Wednesday ministry and connect with other families in our church community.
Thank you for helping make confirmation and Wednesday ministries welcoming, meaningful, and successful for everyone involved!
