Taizé Tuesday

You are invited to take a deep breath and quiet your mind in the midst of your busy week through the practice of meditative music and prayer of Taizé. Music and prayer will be led by Pastor Colin, Peter Nygaard and soloists. Join us in the Sanctuary on the first Tuesday of each month at 5:30 pm.

What is Taizé?

Taizé worship is... a deeply moving candlelit service of music, silence, scripture, prayer and communion which provides a time to bring our burdens and the burdens of the world to the cross of Christ. Because prayer is trust, we put ourselves and our needs into God's hands.

The goal is... to enable participants to remain open to the voice of God and discover the prayer within themselves. What you will find at a Taizé Worship Service is a time of quiet prayer in candlelit surroundings with beautiful simple singing. You will find a change to feel yourself surrounded by the mystery, compassion, and goodness of God. 

It is a service intentionally planned to welcome all. Children are encouraged to come and participate in this worship. Children are invited to participate. The sounds of children are music to God's ears. 

Founded in 1940 in France by a monastic community, Taizé services were started by Protestant and Roman Catholic believers for breaking down barriers between Christians. Today they are meaningful ecumenical services that many enjoy worldwide. Taizé style of worship features short meditative songs, which are easily learned and sung repetitively; these songs then become a deep prayer encompassing the depths of our beings. You're invited to participate with an open spirit in this experience of prayer.
